Yacht design
For the first time, with the design of DAHL 36 / AML Edition, Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter ventured outside the world of architecture and furniture, to tackle the challenges of naval design.
The project was initiated due to the office’s relocation to Norr Mälarstrand in Stockholm and its proximity to Riddarfjärdens Marina. A hull of set dimensions, 11 meters long and 3.2 meters wide, designed by Ted Mannerfelt provided the parameters for the boat and the project itself. The brief was for Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter to consult on the exterior expression and fully develop the interior concept.
The outcome of the exterior design, built to withstand the ever-changing climate of the Nordic countries, includes a retractable canvas roof, as well as an exterior flexi-teak deck, a shower and a sun bed with an integrated dive scooter storage.
For the interior, the design incorporates a refined navigation desk, seats in cognac leather, a stainless-steel kitchen with taps from Dornbracht and a custom-made bed from Dux.
The boat easily sleeps four, thanks to the flexible solution of the dining table, where the height can be adjusted to convert the table into a double bed. The result is a fresh take on DAHL 36 – an all-encompassing approach taking the smallest detail and the overall concept into consideration for the final design.
